The Bible teaches that the role of Deacon is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. To that end, the Deacons at Westminster, minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.

Deacons are elected by the congregation for a three year term of service; they are ordained to the position of Deacons. The Board of Deacons is made of three equal-sized classes—4 beginning new service each year. Deacons are elected from among the church membership; one must be an active member of the church to be considered for the position of Deacon. Each year the Board of Deacons elects a Moderator.
